About
Before starting Bankruptcy.blog, Alex Hernandez started practicing law in 1999 upon graduating from Nova Southeastern School of Law. He is licensed in Florida and in the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida for bankruptcy.
He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at Florida International University. As a sole practitioner, his practice focused mainly on family and bankruptcy law, where he appeared numerous times on Telemundo Miami Channel 51 and had a weekend radio show as well.
As a law professor, he taught and developed the bankruptcy and family law courses for Purdue Global Law School. He was also an initial member of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) committee. He also taught Criminal Justice courses at Central State University (HBCU). Hernandez was also an instructor for the paralegal courses at the University of California at Riverside, where he received the Outstanding Instruction Award. He has also taught Business Law, Bankruptcy Law, and Economic Analysis of Law in English and Spanish at Marconi International University and developed the Business Law course.
Before founding Bankruptcy.Blog, he was a legal writer for Upsolve.org, a non-profit organization that helps consumers file for bankruptcy, and was a partner at South Florida Bankruptcy Center. His first textbook on consumer bankruptcy law, published with Routledge Publishing, is available via the publisher’s website and on Amazon.com.
When not pursuing his passion for writing or teaching, he is working on his golf game, working out on his Echelon, or camping (which he, his wife, and pets can’t get enough of). His latest obsession is meadowscaping.
