What Happened to Dollar Tree and Family Dollar Store?
Whether good or bad, we are seeing drastic changes in how we shop and how companies do business. Companies that we all know and love and are a staple of our communities are either shutting down locations and downsizing or filing for bankruptcy. We are witnessing that now with Dollar Tree and the Family Dollar Store chain.
Just look at my recent blog posts on Red Lobster restaurants shutting down one hundred locations as they file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
But, when I started Bankruptcy.Blog: One of my first posts was about the substantial increase in business bankruptcies. I believe that post-COVID-19, we would experience dramatic financial changes that would reflect all across the board, including how we shop.
I’ve repeatedly mentioned that consumer bankruptcy filings would also increase during this time. I based this on the fact that credit card lawsuits were avoided during the coronavirus pandemic. That’s because creditors and debt collectors knew that it was pointless to see someone if they weren’t working during this time.
Still, with the statute of limitations fast approaching, creditors and debt collection agencies are running out of time before they can no longer collect on the debt.
Family Dollar and Dollar Tree Closings
It’s expected that 600 plus Family Dollar store locations will close this year. Even a Family Dollar Store near me in the Arlington neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida, is closing.
Dollar Tree has released a statement that more than 1,000 locations will be closed over the next several years.
