Trust Yourself on Your Debt-Free Journey
Today, I’m doing what I promised in a previous video: incorporating positive affirmations when it comes to your debt-free journey. Typically, we associate debt with something negative, but it doesn’t have to be that way. When you buy a home, you’re getting into a lot of debt, but you have something tangible – a place to call your own where you can relax and feel good. So, your perspective changes, but it’s still debt.
Listen to this podcast.
What I’m trying to convey is that we don’t have to view debt negatively. For example, when I first started practicing law, I had a preconceived notion about bankruptcy. I thought it was just people living it up and getting into too much debt. However, I soon realized that the top three reasons for filing for bankruptcy are medical bills, health-related issues such as missing work due to illness or out-of-pocket expenses, and divorce. Debt and bankruptcy are usually not as sinister as we think.
New Year, New Start, New Approach to Be Debt-Free
With the New Year, like everyone else, I have resolutions. My resolution is to change your mindset and to change your perspective when it comes to debt. So, the positive affirmation for the day is one word: trust.
You have to trust yourself and trust that you can get past difficult times. I know feeling overwhelmed with negativity is easy, but I’m trying to encourage the opposite.
Looking back, even though we don’t know each other, I guarantee I’m right when I say you’ve been through tough times before, yet you got through them. It doesn’t matter how you did it; the fact is, you did. We’ve all faced challenges we thought we’d never overcome, yet here we are. So why would this be any different? It really shouldn’t be.
How you will get out of debt and start this debt-free journey is up to you. It could be cutting back on expenses, having a side hustle, getting rid of stuff you don’t need—whatever it might be. You might even have to file for bankruptcy. Is bankruptcy the worst thing in the world? Absolutely not. I’ve had many clients who have bounced back from bankruptcy, and two years later, they’re buying cars and homes.
Sometimes, you must look at life and ask, “What’s the worst thing that could happen?” If you can live with the worst-case scenario, then you’re okay, but it all starts with the basic principle of trusting yourself. Once you look at your debt situation, analyze it, and trust yourself to get through it like you’ve gotten through everything else, you’ll get through this, too. It’s really that simple.
Think of all the challenges you’ve faced before and how you overcame them. You’re still standing. You’ve done this before. This is your little reminder that you can do it again.
I hope you love these affirmations. I don’t want to just talk about debt and how to get rid of it. I want to take it to the next level with positive affirmations. It’s not just about educating everyone about debt, bankruptcy, and the economy – it’s also about feeling better along the way and…. Trust. Trust in yourself.
The whole point of a debt-free journey is to feel better once you reach the end. The journey could be long and bumpy, but that’s why we need these affirmations and reminders. Your reminder is simple: trust. Trust yourself to do this; I promise you’ll be fine.
