The Truth Behind Trump’s Tariff Rebate Check
The Trump Tariff Rebate Check. You Fell for It, Again…
Remember the hype around the “$5,000 DOGE check”? It was a shiny distraction, designed to stir excitement and deliver nothing. Now we’re hearing the same tune again: this time, it’s a proposed tariff rebate check for taxpayers, an idea floated by President Trump. The fact that the Big Beautiful Bill adds more than $3 trillion to the deficit falls on deaf ears.
Of course, social media is all excited, and there is a spike in online searches. So, before you actually tell a friend or post on social media, “I can’t wait to get that refund!” take a deep breath, and make sure not to hold it.
“It’s Déjà Vu All Over Again”
No one said it better than Yogi Berra. Now, we’re hearing the same tune again based on President Donald Trump suggesting it. Allow me to be blunt. You’re not getting a tariff rebate check any more than you are getting a DOGE check. We’ve been down this road before. Don’t let selective memory affect common sense. There was no DOGE check, and Mexico still hasn’t paid for the wall, and never will. This, besides the fact that the wall hasn’t been built.
Were those promises kept? No. Instead, they often coincided with the burying of bigger stories, like the “Epstein List,” or the disaster that the European Trade deal is, which increases imports to 15%. So not only are you paying more for imports, approximately 13% more, but there’s still no actual deal.
Getting swept up in these promises isn’t just misguided, it’s financially risky. People start planning around money that’s never going to show up. Might as well go buy that Ferrari since you are going to win the Powerball this week!
Be skeptical. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. When you hear about free money like a DOGE check or tariff rebate check, adopt this mindset: “I’ll believe it when I see it.”

Because here’s the kicker: expecting “free money” from the government, especially under conservative leadership, is textbook socialism. And the political right tends to oppose that loudly, last time I checked.
Escaping financial hardship isn’t about waiting for handouts. Last time I checked, the political right hates “handouts” as well. And the last time I checked, there never was an “Executive Order” for the DOGE check, just like there isn’t one for the tariff rebate check.
Stay informed, be skeptical.
