Comprehensive Guide to the Northern District of Bankruptcy Courts in California
The California bankruptcy court system is divided into four separate districts: Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern districts.
There are multiple judges and courthouses for the Northern District Bankruptcy Court of California, and some judges attend hearings at different locations. The Northern District includes the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma.
Note that it is important that your case is filed in the correct district. Otherwise, your case will be dismissed, and you will need to refile your bankruptcy petition. So make sure to confirm with the clerk’s office if you are unsure which district and location pertains to you.
